6-Months

6-Months~

I cannot believe our Little Boy is 6-Months already! This Little Angel has been here for half of a year ...how time flies. I remember when I was pregnant trying to imagine Jacob...what he would look like, how he would be...and now, I cannot remember Life BEFORE Jacob Brayden. Sleeping In? What's that? I don't even miss it (well, maybe here and there)! And what a month this has been...Jacob surprises us everyday.
After much practice, Jacob has finally mastered the pacifier. He is now able to put it in his mouth and take it out on his own. He is very proud of this achievement, by the way (so are we!).
He is grabbing at everything. I have this shelf above his changing table and I have to move everything out of the way now, otherwise he tries to pull it all down when he is getting his diapers changed. He loves to pet the cats. He loves to grab my hair, my face, my necklaces, my earrings...he wants to grab anything in his sight. We are not able to eat or drink anything in front of Jacob without him reaching for it these days...so he has had some "sipping" practice. I introduced his "sippy cup" to him earlier this month. He plays with it more than anything (he likes to bang on everything in a boyish sort of way), but he has brought it to his lips as if he is imitating the "grown ups" sip their drinks...pretty cute. Now if we can just get him to hold his bottle on his own...
Tooth #3 is on its way...his 1st top tooth is peeking through! Please let it be here before we go to Florida...traveling with a teething baby does not sound like a vacation.
Jacob is 26 inches and 17.9 pounds. He is eating cereal, fruits, and/or veggies 2x a day and we were just given the green light to increase it to 3x a day and start introducing finger foods. I am very frightened about introducing finger foods because I am so stressed out about him choking...so we are taking that slow.
Now that he is 6-months old, Jacob is learning how to fall back to sleep on his own. Unfortunately, we have had to do the "cry himself to sleep" technique multiple times this past week...once he does, he ends up sleeping for the 12 hours. He is learning, yet it is very difficult for all of us. It truly is heartbreaking to hear that awful cry as they scream for you to pick them up, so far the longest it has taken has been about 24 minutes. He is a happier baby for it the next day and I am a happier mommy.
As far as milestones go...
He is sitting up!!!! He still topples over...and we have had a few accidents...but he is officially in the "big boys club" now for sitting up...very proud.
He is rolling over from back to front- this is my favorite accomplishment thus far. Jacob has never been a fan of tummy time...we practice and practice, and he continuously rolls back to his back. Well, just this past week, he was playing on his activity mat (on his back) while I was showering, I got out of the shower and "Mr. Independent" was on his tummy with his pacifier in his mouth (he grabbed it off of the floor of the mat) playing with his toys while at the same time trying to move forward to reach a stuffed animal farther away. I was so proud!!!! He did it again today. Yeah!! I really thought my baby was never going to learn to crawl...I really thought he was going to skip crawling all together and go straight to walking...who knew?! But, this gives me hope that he may decide to be a crawler one day afterall- because he is now CHOOSING to be on his tummy!! Did I mention how proud I was?!
Lastly, but certainly not least, Jacob said his first word- and it's not Mama...

First Word- DADA

...Though I don't find it very fair that his 1st word is DADA- We are still overjoyed and so proud!

McCutie is Sitting Up!

With St.Patty's Day right around the corner, I bought Jacob his 1st St.Patrick's Day shirt-"I'm a McCutie!" and I couldn't wait until the 17th. Jake actually is about 6% Irish too- believe it or not! Anyways, the big news is that he is SITTING UP on his own...Yeah! Finally, we will be sitting up in the sand on the beach in a couple weeks. I still put pillows around him when I get up to do things, just in case he loses his balance. This is a big milestone I am especially excited about!

You want me to do what?!

...Drink out of a sippy cup?! Huh?
P.S-The green stuff on his face is peas...he just ate:)
