7-Months Young

7-Months~

Emerson is 7-months today! I feel like I just wrote her 6-month post...(well, I kind of just did...)

Our "Little Chunky Baby" is growing up before our eyes. I would like to explain the "Little Chunky Baby" line~ Emme is a chunker, the rolls, the rolls, and some more rolls are beautiful and delicious in every way! The Little Girl; however, is still tiny in every other description~from her baby head to her baby feet and toes...she looks like she could still be a 4-5 month old length wise, but her weight makes her look like she eats a ton! She really doesn't eat anymore than Jacob did at this age actually. She is just tiny length wise and isn't mobile yet, so the rolls keep on coming. She is so little to me still...at even 7-months. She is sitting up! Still topples from time to time...but, I feel like she is still so much a little baby, that I don't have it in me to "allow" her to topple over...I am so scared for that first cry from falling over. She is eating lots of baby foods...this month, we just introduced cereal because her bowel movements (sorry, "Older Emme" when you read this, but I had to journal it) for so long were slow with lots of constipation. Since she has been more "regular" for multiple weeks, I decided it was time to "try it out." She really likes it. And..."regular" she is (sorry again, "Older Emme"- I love you)...she has been pooping 2-3x a day now...which is HUGE!!! Because, the kid wouldn't go for days at a time until 1 "hard" poop made its way out. Poor baby. She is now "regular" and happier for it. She has 2-teeth and a few more SLOWLY coming through, and it has been so painful for Emerson. One can always find her with her fingers in her mouth and trying dramatically to "soothe" her little gums. She HATES Oragel products and anything really that I giver her to help soothe the pain. So we are stuck with the basics: Ibuprofin, Tylenol, teething toys, and cold wash clothes/ice cubes. Just today; however, was a 1st with Emzees 1st teething bisquit that she really just used to push on her tender gums. Sleeping has been great, except for these darn incoming teeth that wake us all up to loud screaming. All she wants to do is be cuddled during this traumatic experience of teething. I have never felt so bad, even when Jacob was teething (he seemed to have an easier time). She is still a happy baby (when she is not in pain). She is loving the life of sitting up and interacting with toys, people, and her cats...LOVES her kitty cats, especially Nina. Emerson (and Jacob) just recently has been introduced to a new babysitter into her life~Allison (a sweet, experienced high school babysitter from the neighborhood)~Allison is so smitten with Emme. Emerson has been pretty cool and relaxed for her as well. Allison comes over while Mommy does stuff around the house or goes down the street to run (that's another story- I am "training" for a mini-marathon with my sister, Karen ~ the "marathon runner" in the family~ this "mini" will be taking place in September~I am really in it for the "training" and to keep myself healthy for my babies more than worrying about actually finishing). Emerson loves the water...her bath time is now play time, she loves pools and splashing. Aunt Karen has a really neat non-skid all soft baby pool that Emme spent almost an hour in today, and she LOVED it!) She has been a busy baby, even while missing a nap or two because of activities for her older brother...(Mommy is feeling really guilty about her loss of some naps because a 7-month old NEEDS her scheduled naps, and literally loses it if she is over-tired (as she should), but she still finds time to smile amongst the exhaustion. She is the best baby girl in the whole world. We are so in love.

Mommy, I had a Dream

...about the "Big Bad Wolf" last night.

(Quick Recap~ We do not read him or let him watch "Scary" stories...However, some fairy tales could be a bit disturbing, if you really think about it...and Jacob LOVES his Nursery Rhyme/Fairy Tale Book...but, we DO pick and choose what to and how to read him some of the stories (ie. We do not actually read him~ Sleeping Beauty would die if Prince Charming did not kiss her, in Jack and the Beanstalk, the Giant says "I drink the blood of an Englishman," and in Snow White, the Queen tells the huntsman to bring her to the woods and kill her)...huh? what? These are children's stories?! SO WE ABSOLUTELY EDIT ALL OF THESE FAIRY TALES as we read them to Jacob who LOVES them.) So, Jacob has a favorite...and it happens to be the "3 Little Pigs" ~which is just fine except for the "Big Bad Wolf"~ who is all this kid wants to talk about...and now back to the dream.....

"He was chasing me and trying to blow me down." And Daddy and I were running from him...and we said go away "Big Bad Wolf" and we ran and ran and ran. And then the Big Bad Wolf ran away and then we stuck him in a garbage can. Hahahahahah!!!!"

The next day...

"Last night I had a dream about the "Big Bad Wolf" and I stuck him in the oven and cooked him for a long long time"

(Anyone ever heard of the "Gingerbread Man" (another Fairy Tale)- he walks out of the oven. Fairy Tales should be rated PG-13.)

Big Boy Big Boy...Where has my Baby Boy Gone?

Jacob Brayden ~ 33-Months

Jacob has become such a big boy in just the last few months, I don't even know where the time has gone!

  1. Sleeping in a Big-Boy Bed- (full/queen size) for about 2-months now- he loves it, especially with his "Toy Story" Sheets. I was most excited too because we were able to "update" his room a bit too- we added a new plaid comforter (from Pottery Barn Kids) and new matching navy blue valances. It is such a "Boy" Room now.

  2. Potty Trained. YES!!! This is true. I gave it 2-weeks before I would blog about it (fearful that this would "jinx" us.) Jacob was introduced to the "potty" at 18-months old, since then he would be "wishy washy" about the whole thing...not sure if he wanted to do it, and so on. After Emerson was born, Jacob wanted nothing to do with the potty, for months he was wearing pull ups, after weeks of buying new ones, I finally decided enough was enough, once the last one was gone, it would be undies 100% (except for nighttime- I bought one more pack for just nighttime)~ after a few accidents, this boy is telling us when he has to go (including #2!!!!!!), and he does! He still needs assistance pulling down his pants, etc...but we are officially potty trained...I must say, I feel so proud (wow! that was tough !!!!)

  3. He's a bruiser! This kid has been getting boo boos and scabs and bruises left and right...and he's pretty proud of them. I think its pretty funny. What a boy.
This Little Boy is such a Big Boy. He talks like a Big Boy too...Loves the word "actually" or"instead" and just starts blabbing about anything and everything. He is such a talker. I am so proud of him and am constantly laughing at the things he says. For instance, he said the other day- "Mommy, what's gluten?" Huh? As many people know, I need to be gluten free, and have had some physical issues with it, and he has been listening to my conversations...as he was going to bed the other night, he stopped and said..."Wait...what is gluten?" I did wha? huh? ummm...well... (how do you explain that "strange" word?)

My Jacob Brayden.

Emerson's Baptism

A day shy of 6-months, on May 21st, 2011, Emerson Marie was baptized at St.Anne's Catholic Church in Barrington. This is the parish I was raised, received my 1st Communion, Confirmation, and where we were married, our 1st child, Jacob Brayden was baptized, and this year, Emme was welcomed into the Church, and we were so proud. Her Godparents are David (my Little Brother) and Lorraine (Rocky's sister). David also grew up in St.Anne's and Lorraine is a very devout Christian, we are so happy about Emme's Godparents. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, a quaint, intimate ceremony with just us and family. We decided Emme would be fully emerged (as Jacob was)- and she didn't make a peep...she actually loved the "warm bath " Holy Water. Our Little Cherub was so happy to be the "Star of the day." She looked beautiful in her new lace Baptismal Gown and hat. We celebrated with a huge brunch catered at our home afterwards. It was a wonderful day.

6-Months (5/22/2011)

Emerson Marie~6-Months
...Yes. I cannot believe I just typed 6-months. Whataboutit?! Our Little Chicklet is on her 2nd half of her 1st year. How did that happen? Time has flown...I must say, especially with my Little Emme (my 2nd child)- she is so sweet, so quiet, so happy, so easy...I am SO busy with the toddler- that would be her big brother, Jacob Brayden as well, that time has flown. But everyday with Emerson is so happy. She is always smiling and now always laughing...speaking of~ especially at her brother...all he has to do is walk in the room, and she is cracking up. This is the happiest baby I have ever met. She also is so gentle, and really focuses on everything. She wants to touch and grab anything in her sight, Emerson really is in to textures...she loves rubbing her fingers on anything...even her very own kitty-cat~Nina (who also adores her!) We are going over words such as Kitty-Cat: Meow: soft. I am trying to show her everything. She LOVES being in the Baby Bjorn on walks~ "Emzees" just laughs and kicks her legs. She loves looking at the birds and watching her brother run...which she is so wanting to do herself. Emerson is rolling over from back to tummy~everytime so she can "play." Yet, she will not roll over from tummy to back (which is the easier of the two)....she is trying so hard to reach anything in her sight...her legs are starting to tuck under as well...so I am wondering when the "mobility" will begin. Emerson is just about sitting up. We are still using the "boppy" for support, but she loves the freedom of seeing the world from a more upright position. She also loves her jumperoo and walker (Jacob's old corvette). Emerson is babbling and just said DADA (indiscriminately) the other day. She even moves her mouth as if she is trying to sound out words. It is so cute!!! I believe she will be a big talker just like her brother. Our Little Princess now has 2 new "teef" (on the bottom)~she struggled with them coming through, yet got through it bravely. I am very proud...it looked so painful...and she hates anything I give her for it, so she really endured most of it naturally. Emerson is sleeping very well as well. She goes to bed around 8pm for the night and wakes EXACTLY 7:30 every morning. Her morning nap is a good 2 hours, and a couple smaller naps thereafter...she is truly a "Sleeping Beauty." She wakes up smiling in the morning...the best thing in the world!!! She has even been known to babble a bit in the morning, roll over, and go back to sleep. She truly is a dream.

Emerson 6-month Statistics:
  • weight: 17 lbs. 4 oz. (74th%)
  • height: 24.5 in (11th%)
  • head: 16.5 in (33rd%)
She is wearing 9-12 month clothes now too!!! Whataboutit?!
Emme is a baby with LOTS of rolls, a tiny head, and tiny feet. She is just perfection.
Lastly, this month Emerson was baptized. It was a beautiful ceremony and a beautiful day. We are so grateful for all who were able to share the joyous occasion with us...more pics to come.
