Lorraine's Baby Shower

Tia Lorraine is having a Baby Girl! We celebrated her upcoming arrival with a Baby Shower at our house. Lorraine had all of her family (relatives) in town to celebrate her. She had a beautiful (yummy) cake, lots of presents, and pretty interesting games. Wendy found a very unique game ...it was a relay race of adult women running to baby bottles and diapers, grabbing them, and putting them on their "babies" (their partners/adult women) during the game...the pictures say it all...it was pretty hysterical and really silly. Emerson Marie also had a nice time with another "Little Baby Friend" - her 2nd cousin Raffael (he was just 6-months in these pictures and has been crawling since 5-months, unlike his 8-month old cousin, who isn't there yet) Congratulations Lorraine, Rick, and Brenden...Baby Girl is due September 24th (2 days after Jacob's Bday)

A Day at Arlington

A few weeks ago, some of Rocky's family was in town from Texas, and a couple of them have kids the same age as Jacob (and Emme!) It was so funny to see the kids have such a blast together while at the tracks (and while Daddy made a few winnings to top off the afternoon). These are Jacob's 2nd cousins: Jacob, Christian, and Luca (ages range from 2-3). Brenden was there too- making sure Jacob was staying out of trouble:) Both the adults and kids had a grand time! Later that evening, everyone came back to our house for pizza, Christian was so pooped that he passed out on our couch, Jake was so upset...he kept saying "Mommy, when is Christian going to wake up? I want to play!" And...he did finally wake up...but, on the "wrong side of the bed"- after his nap, Christian was in no mood to play...the tracks exhausted these kids! Poor Jake, he was so disappointed. We hope to see them again soon.

A Day at the Zoo

A few weeks ago, Rocky took the day off of work, and we all made our way to Brookfield Zoo. We waited for Emerson to wake from her morning nap, and took the drive to Brookfield. Jacob was SO EXCITED about going to the "Animal Zoo" (I wasn't aware there were any other type of zoos). It was fun. It was a zoo. There were animals. It was what it was. We actually had a pretty perfect day for it; however. Nice and sunny and a bit of a breeze at times (not much humidity). Jacob LOVED the polar bears and gorillas. Emerson LOVED the butterflies (so did I!) It was a very nice family day. The day ended with a little boy crying because he did not want to leave the "Animal Zoo" ~I think that means it was a good day.

8-Months

Emerson Marie turned 8-months on July 22nd. Our Princess in learning more and more daily. She is still such a baby to us...and she really is. However, she has had a great month of many firsts. Before I begin, I would just like to tell my Little Girl what a joy she has been. I thank God everyday for this perfect being. How we have been so lucky is beyond me...we are grateful for our beautiful, healthy, happy babies everyday. We now have our Little Girl...and now that she is 8-months, life is getting more exciting. Her personality is starting to shine. Emerson will let us know when she is NOT happy...when she does NOT want to be left for few minutes (as we tend to her very busy brother), she wants a part in EVERYTHING these days...so we decided to introduce her to more of what life has to offer (however, one of them came without welcome- ie. ear infections) A month of many "firsts~"
  • 1st Ear Infection...and then again with more fluid in the ears...2x on antibiotics in one-month. (I am praying that this is not a sign of what could be to come)
  • 1st trip to the zoo
  • 1st 4th of July
  • Introduction to her high-chair
  • Introduction to her sippy-cup
  • 1st trip to the race track (Arlington Race Track)
  • 1st meeting with Great-Grandma (Rojas) in town from Mexico
  • Sitting up with no help of anything behind her
  • Holding herself up (almost entirely) while standing
  • Clapping her hands
  • "So Big!"
  • Blowing kisses
  • 1st taste of sugar (yes, Kelly)~ a lick or 2 of a snowcone...and loved it
  • Dancing~Loves music
  • Rolling from side to side to get to objects
  • 2 teeth...waiting for more
Some pictures to share of our Beautiful 8-month old...

4th of July Weekend 2011

We had a wonderful 4th of July Weekend this year. To start, it was Emerson's very 1st 4th of July! She seemed to "roll with the punches" of the weekend...she partied with the other babies at our annual Independence Day Party...where Rocky rented a water slide for all of the kids to enjoy. Jacob rocked the slide all day while wearing his sunglasses and sitting in the pool part with his girlfriend Adriana...the entire time. Later that evening, the kids chased bubbles and then fireflies...they had a blast! Us adults also had a great time...BBQ, Summer Cocktails, and friends and family= A Great Time. On the 4th, we watched the Barrington Parade, where Jacob collected lots of candy, and Emme just hung out. We met up with Loren, Brandon, Mason, Karen, Jared, Alyssa, and my parents. After the parade, we had breakfast, and then made our way to the Brat Tent for some Summer Ale (for those who could enjoy it). Emerson missed her morning nap, but did fantastic!
