Rojas Family Vacation 2010

...Jacob has been a lucky little guy, he has been quite the traveler in his short life thus far...we have visited Florida with family, The Virgin Islands with friends, some weekend getaways with friends and family, and now we were able to take a nice, nearby getaway with Just the 3 of us to South Haven...Michigan's Beachtown.
It was truly beautiful and absolutely perfect for all of us. Just 3 short hours away, we arrived in South Haven on a Thursday afternoon, after an early dinner, we checked into our condo, and made our way to the harbor
, enjoyed some fine music outdoors while playing in the grass and then made our way for some ice cream (because South Haven has an ice cream parlor on EVERY block!). Jacob went to sleep that night, while Rocky and I enjoyed some wine and appetizers on our patio. The next day, we had a nice breakfast and then made our way to the beach (we haven't been to the beach since Jacob was 10-months old in the Virgin Islands- way too young to "get it" then)- the beach was AMAZING.
It was made up of white sand, 2 light houses, boardwalks, and beautiful Lake Michigan. Jacob really enjoyed the sand.
The lake not so much...
it took him a couple days to get used to the "waves" that he kept telling to go away. He LOVED the seagulls and chasing them down the beach.
We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch, and made our way back to the condo for naptime. Later that evening, we made our way to a nice family dinner with another ice cream stop to end the night. The next day, we woke up, went for breakfast, and drove 20-minutes to Saugatuck, Michigan

. We enjoyed ALL of their shops, beautiful harbor, and a nice lunch. We then made our way back for a nap.
That evening, we decided to grab some sandwiches and have a nice little picnic on the harbor (we were kind of done with restaurants and a toddler- that is for another post), we walked the boardwalk, watched the sunset, and ended our last night once again with...ice cream!!
Jacob was in HEAVEN. The next day (our last day), we made our way to the beach for a couple hours before we headed back home. It truly was a wonderful, perfect, relaxing trip. I am so happy we were able to do it...Rocky and Jacob especially got to spend some quality time together.
We look forward to making our way back next year!

Just a Little Tribal Dance...

Uncle Sammy was keeping Jacob busy one evening when everyone was over while I was trying to prepare dinner- all of a sudden Sammy started "playing the drums" THEN Jacob started doing a little dance...it was hysterical!

A Day at Brookfield Zoo

...Finally! So, I have been putting off a trip to Brookfield all Summer because of the construction on 290. However, Rocky's Sister, Lorraine called and invited us to the zoo - so we picked a Sunday and all made our way to see the beautiful zoo and animals. It really is a beautiful zoo (how I forget). The day itself was miserably hot. But, Jacob and Brenden had lots of fun seeing the lions, camels, zebras, bears, dolphins, gorillas, wolves, elephants, kangaroos, and more. It was such a hot day that Jacob made sure he cooled himself off with a few of the "mister (sprinklers)" and ice cream. By the end of the day, we were exhausted!!!! Lots of great pics. Wonderful memories. Thanks Hervas Family for the fun day.

Circus Circus

One lazy, Sunday afternoon, we decided to make our way to a local traveling circus in town. It was probably the HOTTEST early evening we have had all Summer by the way. It was a nice little carnival with animals such as goats (we got to feed them) and ponies. And then there were BIG Animals...and that was when I felt really bad. They had elephants, a hippo, and camels too. These animals looked so sad. I officially HATE circus' now. What a horrible life for these beautiful animals. I had a really hard time getting over that...but, the rest of the family enjoyed the event. Jacob LOVED feeding the goats, looking at all the animals, balloons, and watching the circus inside the (non-airconditioned) tent (I am just saying....I mean, I am pregnant- okay! It is not comfortable period, let alone in a sweat tent that smelled like elephant poop- I'm just saying.) They had great acrobats and clowns- which Jake loved. Plus, cotton candy! The most amazing part of the whole thing was that Jacob actually got to ride the elephant, and CRIED when he had to get off (I've never even ridden an elephant)! Him and Rocky hopped on during the intermission when they were allowing "Elephant Rides." I still felt sad for the animals...Jacob loved it...and brought his own SPIDERMAN Balloon home (which he had his eye on the entire time). Fun times for most. Pics to share...

Check it out-Jacob's actually standing on the elephant, with Rocky sitting and holding him from behind- you can't miss Rocky's shiney shoes....

The Soon-to-Be "Big Brother"

...These pictures just make my Jacob look like such a "boy" instead of a baby these days. Oh, my goodness. He is growing up so fast. (We are having a lot of fun, though;) In 3 months, he will be "The Big Boy." But, for now, Jacob is just taking it easy and lounging in his PJs or putting his feet up...soon enough, there will be lots of work to be done taking care of a "Little Sister."

Little Neve's Birthday Party

Jacob has a Little Friend, Neve who is 1-month older than him...she just turned 2 last week, and we were invited to her Birthday Party. I know Neve's mom from working out with her. Jacob and Neve had a great time together. He had so much fun helping her open her present from him, eating cupcakes, chasing balloons, and giving the Birthday Girl hugs. They were the only Little, Little kids ...there were older kids and family at the party...so this cute pair had some fun. Some cute Little Pics...
