In Daddy's Shoes~
Though he is definetely a Momma's Boy, Jacob LOVES his daddy. I am pretty sure it is because his Daddy is a big kid at heart. They have SO much fun playing together. Jacob and Rocky are so cute when it is just the two of them. Jake wants to be just like Daddy...This is the story of the NEW Rojas Family. A tribute to the experiences and challenges of our lives as parents to the 2 Loves of our Lives, Jacob Brayden and Emerson Marie. I am a 30-something new mother living in the Chicago Suburbs, wife of 6-years to my college sweetheart, and after 10-years in the media business, I am now a Stay at Home Mom. This is my life.

My Boss
From the Office of Mr. Jacob Brayden Rojas
Since I resigned from the media business about 8-months ago, I have been getting to know my NEWEST Boss-more so in the last 8-months since he started getting a hang of this "talking thing"- the demands are quite numerous- "Sit Momma"- "Up Momma"- "Off Momma"- "On Momma"- "hand Momma"- "No Nina!"- "Down Nina!" and on and on and on...and the first thing he says to Grandma in the morning when she comes over is- "Bye Grandma"- (because he doesn't want me to leave) I really am enjoying these new demands though because it is so neat to see Jacob have all these opinions and be so busy with everything- it just makes me laugh all day. Often, you will find us calling Jacob "Karen Jane" - who would be his Aunt- but when she was a Little Girl- she was so full of demands and dislikes...like for instance- Karen Jane (that's what Jacob calls her too- not just Karen, it is her full name) was a tot, she did not like the way her shoes fit her, her tights fit her, her undies fit her, how her seatbelt lay across her lap, etc. etc- well, my son has decided to pick up this fine trait- he DOES NOT like any shoes except for his crocs, he does not like how I put his diapers on sometimes, he does not like to wear hats anymore, and has decided that if he is not sitting on his potty just right, he cannot go- he has decided that he HATES swimming, bathing, brushing his teeth, and Nina trying to cuddle with him- he gets very annoyed with her at times (I'm telling you, he is one busy kid, with one busy life- and no one gets in the way of how he does things- no one! Not even Nina- the cat!) So the things that do keep him busy are as follows: still loves his books, his Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy stickers, watching Mickey Mouse Playhouse, Tigger and Pooh, jumping, running, throwing anything down the stairs, dancing, playing ball, playing with play-dough, wrestling anyone who will participate, catching ants, dumping water, sand, and collecting rocks. All these "activities" make me wonder...am I having another rough and tough Little Boy or am I having a girl? Little Jake is such a boy! And...he's my NEW Boss.

Jacob and his Friends
We are very fortunate to have so many great friends (and family) with kids Jacob's age (ages vary- newborn through 3ish) whom he is able to play with, (or watch -ie. the babies), grow and learn with, and build many memories with. Jacob really loves Little Girls (most of Jacob's friends are girls because 99.9% of my friends have girls!)- he enjoys hugging and kissing them (every now and then, he thinks its okay to push them down- something we are working on).
Jacob has been very busy lately as well. We have had some Birthday Parties in the last couple months- where some of his "Little Girlfriends" recently turned 1!
Happy 1st Birthdays to Adriana, Ella, and this month- Keaton! We've recently enjoyed some really fun parties at "Pump It Up" - where Jake ran around like a wild man and watching the bigger kids jump around in the "fun houses." We also went to "Randall Oaks Farm" for another party- where everything was outside- Jacob was in heaven! He was able to run and jump, look for catepillars, play ball, chase bubbles, dance, play with play-dough etc. And just recently, we visited my family in Crystal Lake for a "Going Away" party for my cousin (who is moving to Florida to pursue her medical career as a new resident at a Daytona Hospital), her 2-year old daughter Alayna, and her husband. It was Bittersweet. Jake and Alayna are about 6-months apart, they don't see eachother very often, but are now just getting to the age where they enjoy playing with eachother.

We had a nice time at the lake. Jacob and Alayna were little rascals chasing eachother through the house and yard. We will miss the Verzal family, Best of luck, Rhonda! As the Summer BBQ season kicks off, We are looking forward to more memories to build with friends, family, and upcoming babies!

A Little Naptime Surprise
...So it was just a regular Tuesday afternoon. My sister, Karen who is due to give birth to her 1st child this August was over hanging out. Jacob was just waking up from his nap, so we both thought we would go up to his room to say Good Afternoon. Now, just to reiterate- Karen is due to give birth to her FIRST in 8 weeks...and is kind of nervous about her upcoming new "mommy role"- she also spends a reasonable amount of time with Jacob - and sees it takes lots of work to keep up with a toddler. So as we make our way up to Jacob's room, we open the door, and sneak up to his crib. Just as we sneak a peak- AHHHHHH!!!!!! Jacob had at some point during his nap managed to take off his diapers (he was only wearing diapers and a tshirt)- and just as I saw a naked butt and then diapers laying on their own, I also saw ...POOP staring AND smiling at me in its own little pile in the crib (literally, it had just been layed like a fresh egg). And there was my son smiling at me and my VERY pregnant sister too. After a couple seconds, Jake managed to take out his paci and point to his "mess" and say "yuck- pooh!" Needless to say, Karen should probably stay far away from the Rojas home until AFTER she gives birth, I really feel like we freak her out every time she is visiting. Whataboutit?! That has NEVER happened before. I mean, my son is very clean about his poop and pee. We have NEVER had poop accidents- ever- not even blow outs during the newborn stage, just as I thought we were in the clear- a mound of poop was just laughing at me- Ahhhhhhh!!!!!
