This is the story of the NEW Rojas Family. A tribute to the experiences and challenges of our lives as parents to the 2 Loves of our Lives, Jacob Brayden and Emerson Marie. I am a 30-something new mother living in the Chicago Suburbs, wife of 6-years to my college sweetheart, and after 10-years in the media business, I am now a Stay at Home Mom. This is my life.

What Did he Say?
So Jacob has been trying to push off bedtime as long as possible these days- we must tuck him in like 100x, more kisses and hugs (I love this part), he likes to add more prayers, add more books, tuck in each toy, and FINALLY say goodnight. And then...AFTER he has been said Good Night to- he will call me back in...and if I make him wait, he does a..."Mommy, the monsters are coming in, please help!" "Please, I like you, Mommy."

3 Months
I cannot believe our Little Emme is 3-months old already! It really has flown by thus far. I am happy that the "newborn" days have passed and we are moving on to more exciting times- like a budding personality! Emerson seems to have such a calm, yet happy and social personality for 3-months old. She was born into a "crazy" household- with a fun loving, energetic toddler for a brother and 2 parents who BOTH love to talk...and talk loudly...she really has no choice, but to listen at this point. And...listen she does very well. She turns her head in every direction to watch who is speaking as if she wants to join the conversation or as if to say..." please include me." Emerson has already picked up on the Rojas Family's most well-known trait- she is a talker-she LOVES to talk and laugh. It just melts my heart everytime I hear her sweet voice. Our Little Girl is so happy. We feel so blessed. Even Aunt Karen made a remark- "her eyes are smiling." Really, they do that ALL the time - along with her precious smile. What can I say, I am so in love.
Emerson is a BIG happy baby by the way. She is weighing in at 13 lbs. 11 oz. (90th %) and 23 inches long (35th%) Wearing 3-6 and 6-month clothes, 2 diapers are now just getting a little snug as well. And...the biggest development this month: Emme Marie is sleeping through the night!! (2-weeks now!) She is still in my room, and we are moving her to her big girl crib sometime this week-that is IF I am ready for it-she seems to be however.
We are enjoying our time with our 2-beautiful babies. I am so honored to be their mom!
Thank you for coming down from heaven for me, Emerson Marie.

What Have We Been Up to...
In January, I celebrated my Birthday with family and friends. My family had a nice birthday celebration for both myself and my dad (we have the same birthday! and I love it) We brought all of the kids to the country club (my dad's choice) for a nice BIG family dinner. Though it is always great to get together...it just makes it difficult to enjoy dinner and such with a very alert infant who does not want to be in her carrier and a very rambunctious 2-year old, who does not want to sit still. Also, my (almost 1-year old) nephew and 6-month old niece- both of whom were very good- Mason and Jacob enjoyed wrestling on the floor while we were there too (NOT that it was appropriate @ the country club)- but glad to see that the 2 grandsons are starting to play together. The next night, Rocky and I enjoyed some "adult time" celebrating my birthday with friends at dinner. That night, Rocky let me sleep, while he got up with Emme, that morning, they all came into the room to wake me up, and Rocky took one look at me, and was like- "wow- you are going to have a rough day today, I am so sorry I am leaving you with 2 babies while I go to the Bears Game." Needless to say, I had a great celebration the night before, but the aftermath was not so nice- that was my first "hangover" with 2 kids- wow- that was not fun. On Monday (my actual birthday), Rocky made me dinner, and we had a nice family Birthday celebration. This was the happiest I have ever been on my birthday because I feel so blessed with my beautiful family...and we were able to all spend it together. Jacob and Emerson are the best gifts I could ever have!!! Happy Birthday to me.
The next week, Rocky flew to Hawaii for a few days (for work) and left me for the 1st time with 2 Little Ones. (I chose not to go, it was a short trip and with all that travel and a 2-month old at home, it was just too much for me- I WILL be going next time) Though he worked while there, he did come home with a nice HAWAIIAN tan- I was so jealous! While Rocky was away, my dear friend, Laura spent the week with us...she helped me with the kids- watched Emme while Jacob and I went to Spanish class, played with, entertained, and SPOILED Jacob, let me take a nap or two, washed dishes, and kept me company- we had a great time!!!! I miss her so much, it was SO FANTASTIC to have her there (it was more work for her then an actual getaway)- to get to know the kids more, and reminisce with me about "the way we were," watched "The Real Housewives" over and over again, and just hung out (after the kids were in bed) like old times. I was so sad for her to go home...it was just a great time! She really got to see how my days are, got lots of tastes of 2-year old tantrums too. We LOVE you Auntie Laura (and Zoe- her doggie- who also came for the stay) THANK YOU for taking care of us. After Laura left, Jacob said- "Mommy, where's Lowa?" We miss you.
The following couple weeks, we have been just fighting the same cold going around over and over again - passing it back and forth...the only one who has been in the clear has been Rocky. I've had the same sinus infection for 2-months now (I think it might be gone now). Jacob has been fighting it too with a cough, runny nose, and slight fevers. Emerson (poor baby) has ALSO been fighting it with a stuffy nose causing her to have difficulty eating and getting comfortable to sleep- we've used the bouncy for her sleep many nights lately.
The worst of the cold just hit last Monday. Emerson woke up at 5am for her feeding (BTW- she has been sleeping through the night for 2-weeks now- whataboutit?!), and I felt her head, and she felt warm, so I took her temp, and she had a slight temperature, however; it broke within minutes after undressing her and using cool compresses. After, she had her tylenol, she was fine- eating, sleeping like usual. That morning, I went to exercise after Grandma Olivia came over, and later received a call from Grandma saying that Emme felt warm again. I called the doctor, made an appointment, and rushed home- to not only find Emme not feeling well, but Jacob had just woken up from his nap, warm as can be (fever), and his eyes just looked SICK. Another call to the doctor, they got both kids in, and come to find out Emme is fine (besides a little cold), but Jacob has an ear infection (his 1st since November). Needless to say, I had 2-sick kids. Though, Emme is still sleeping well at night, Little Jake has been waking up (now we know why). Everyone is starting to feel better again. However, just as I write this, Emerson will be visiting the doctor again today because she seems to be REALLY suffering from Acid Reflux...so off we go to the doctor (our weekly visit). If anyone has any suggestions on how to handle this, please let me know.
All in all, it has been very busy. So by the end of the night, 9:30ish- I really don't want to be blogging, I just want to sit. Then I go to bed and start all over again in the morning.
To conclude with a smile, Jacob has been really into "Toy Story" lately- he repeats tons of lines from the movies- just the other day, he was kissing Emerson and said "I Love You, Cowboy."

Little Miss Social Butterfly...
On Saturday, Rocky's cousin and his wife stopped by with their beautiful twin 6-month old girls- Scarlett and Violet. They were excited to meet Emme...and we LOVED watching all of the girls together. Grandma Olivia joined in the fun too...some pics of Emme's 1st "Girls' Playdate" and with Grandma Olivia (Emerson is her only Grandaughter- Emme is kind of special...)

Big Boy = Big Boy Bed
On Saturday, Our Little Prince was moved to his "Big Boy Bed"- his crib was converted into a toddler bed. He has been climbing/jumping out of his bed for a month now due to more tantrums, so we wanted to take our time and make it a "fun" thing instead of him feeling like it was a punishment. So, we have been talking about it with him for weeks and weeks now, and decided to make it a celebration (an idea I got from my friend, Jackie)- we had cake and he received a fun new book too. All has been good since Jacob has been in his new bed. He even gets out in the morning to read his books some days while waiting for us to come get him (he has yet to be able to actually open his door- so we have some time right now to enjoy this new transition). We also retired his changing pad on his dresser and his high chair in the kitchen (he LOVED his high chair and did not want to give it up, but with Emme almost 3-months old, we have only a couple more months before she will be using it- so we needed him to get used to this transition as well) Such a big boy, and mommy is a little sad, but SO proud. Congratulations Sweet Boy! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you.
