This is the story of the NEW Rojas Family. A tribute to the experiences and challenges of our lives as parents to the 2 Loves of our Lives, Jacob Brayden and Emerson Marie. I am a 30-something new mother living in the Chicago Suburbs, wife of 6-years to my college sweetheart, and after 10-years in the media business, I am now a Stay at Home Mom. This is my life.

...I know this is crazy that I am posting about "The Real Housewives" but really, I LOVE this show. This is the only show I cannot miss and look so forward to catching all week long! (Thursdays on Bravo- FYI). So tonight, was the finale of the OC show- wow- Tamyra and Simon- he is such a jerk! Cannot wait for next week's reunion show...also, the finale is in 2 parts, get this: the husbands of the OC are joining the part 2 finale!!! I mean really, television could not get any better. (I mean, when you have Sprout TV on all day this is SO refreshing) This week was the Season Premiere of the New York show- I LOVE this cast. Bethenny rocks! Anyways, whataboutit?! Good Stuff.

Jacob and his cousins
This weekend we enjoyed family time. Friday night, I met Rocky (who just flew in from Texas for business) at Ruth's Chris for Karen's Birthday. My Aunt Debbie Babysat "The Boy." Saturday night, we made our way to the Rojas home- it was Sammy's Birthday (Sammy- Rocky's Brother and Karen-my sis have the same birthday) we joined some of the family for a wonderful lunch. Jacob had a great time playing ball with his #1 BIG COUSIN- Brenden. They are so cute together. Jake really looks up to Brenden (he is 10-years older). Sunday, we made our way downtown to get our "Mason-fix" and to introduce Jacob to his newest cousin. We made some lasagna and brought it over for the new, exhausted family. Jacob, however- really didn't know what to think of such a little baby, but he did try to share his toys with Mason (who was all wrapped up like a little burrito)- this is a great sign- sharing may be just around the corner! Woo-hoo! Jacob and his cousins...

My Nephew is here!
Jacob has a NEW cousin!
Introducing...
Mason Dee Jaynes

8:45am
6 lbs. 10 oz. 20.5 inches
Proud Parents: Loren and Brandon
Mason is perfect as a button.
Loren was over 41 weeks, therefore; she had (2) doctor appointments this week, the second appointment- the stress test showed that his heart rate was being affected. The doctor instructed Loren to go straight to the hospital, as she would need to be induced. As soon as she got to the hospital, she started having major contractions on her own, they still gave her the petosin, and she was SLOWLY dilating for over 15 hours- that hospital was fantastic (BTW)- Prentice Women's Hospital (Northwestern) downtown. The rooms are like hotel rooms, and the doctors and nurses are amazing...they did everything they could to assist Loren with the dilating without ever having to result in a C-Section...(dilating is an "issue" for the ladies in our family- which is why both myself and my mom have had c-sections). Loren can definitely now brag about how effective acupuncture is as well, she's been going her entire pregnancy to do everything she can to not have to go down the same road her family has- and I really believe it paid off. After almost 24 hours in labor, Loren only needed to "push" for 15-minutes, and out came her beautiful baby boy...who we have been anxiously awaiting! Mason is beautiful and tiny as a button. Loren and Brandon are naturals ...and we are so excited to watch him grow up...with his big cousin, Jacob. Oh, my baby looks so big now...hmmm...a newborn in the Rojas family might not be so bad...just thinking, that is certainly not a hint, though- not right now)
Some Pictures to share~
-Mason and I- my throat started hurting last night, and the aches and pains started coming on, I was scared I was getting a little something; hence the mask. A little dramatic, I know...I didn't want to chance any germs on my new, perfect nephew)

-The nurse checking his blood sugar-Mason has a great grip- look at that!
Like Mother, Like Son- Loren is known to doze off with her mouth open, check out her son!
Look how big Mason's BIG COUSIN is already!!!! No longer the baby of the family:) Jacob and Mason are 17-months apart.

Mommy-to-be- just waiting for the action to begin (11-hours before she delivered)
Daddy-to-be just waiting for the action to begin
Grandpa waiting to meet his 2nd Grandson
Welcome to the World Mason! We love you so much~

Happy Valentine's Day!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Love Day. We did. We started the weekend in the city at the Bleu Bayou to celebrate Cara and David's surprise engagement party...it was a Mardi Gras theme which their friends threw for them. Dave and Cara were both so excited and even more surprised that us suburbanites (us, my parents) and the VERY pregnant city dwellers: Loren and Brandon were there to celebrate. The "soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs." had a wonderful time. Their BIG Day is July 10th --(Jacob Brayden is the ring bearer!) the reception will take place at a hotel on Michigan Avenue- oh, how wonderful. (My favorite Avenue!) On Saturday night, Rocky and I enjoyed a romantic evening at Cooper's Hawk (that's 2-years and counting now for V-Day). On Sunday morning, Jake and Rocky woke me up with balloons, flowers, and a beautifully decorated card from "the boy." Jake had a nice time too- he got some fun gifts and his favorite was a card with stickers all over it...oh, the little things. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. The next big event: we are ANXIOUSLY awaiting Mason's arrival- his due date was today.)

The New E-Trade Baby !
Jacob is saying lots of words, but he is trying SO hard to carry on conversations...it's really cute the way he tries to sound out words, and express himself with his hands and facial expressions...he could be the new baby for the E-Trade commercials! LOL!

SuperBowl XLIV and a few kids
...It is the year of the Saints...and I guess Kim Kardashian...(or atleast she seemed to think during the interviews- though Reggie was the superstar --Kim seemed to feel that once again, her man's winning game was all about her...oh, I digress) Anyhow, I am SO not into football...or Kim. But, you would think we were-- with the party we had -16x adults and 8x kids (under the age of 4). It's been a tradition for years with our group of friends to gather at someone's home for the BIG GAME. The last time we hosted (2-years ago)- was when I announced I was pregnant! And, here we are 2-years later and a beautiful 16-month old little boy. Last year, we celebrated at the Campbell home, Jake was almost 5-months old and little did we know (until the next day) that he was cutting his 1st tooth, so Jacob and I really were not able to stay to enjoy last year's festivities thanks to his new toof that caused his non-stop crying. So, this year was super exciting. Though, we are still getting more teeth (he is a bit more of a pro at the teething thing now), his age makes all the difference when it comes to enjoying festivities- his little independence plus all of his little pals made this year the best yet! The guys enjoyed their beers, food, and the game. The moms and kids enjoyed eachother (as always!)- the kids ages range from infant/babies (7-10 month olds): Adriana, Ella, and Keaton , baby/toddlers (16-20 month olds): Addison, Jacob, and Peyton, and the toddler/toddlers (2-3year olds): Luke and Elliott. What a difference a few months makes with each group. The infant/babies were sitting up (and standing- Adriana!) cooing and smiling and playing with toys. The baby/toddlers were walking everywhere exploring, chasing cats, or talking or running, and TRYING to keep up with the big kids, and still needing mommy...(Jacob Brayden!) and well, the toddler/toddlers were making their own fort telling all the other kids and mommies to keep out. It was quite the party! We had a wonderful time. Some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for and the cutest kids you ever set your eyes on...oh, and a football game. Check out the pics...oh, and Jacob and Addie- they are back together atlast...so cute.)

Mr. Independent
...So Jacob is making it very clear to us these days that he WILL NOT have any sort of a dirty diaper on him at any time during the day or night. (This may be a good sign, maybe he will be anxious to start potty training sooner then later!) These days (and nights), Jacob has been calling us (while in his crib) to come get him, once I open his door, he is standing and pointing to his diaper area ...I ask him if he has a poopy diaper (granted, I can immediately tell- the scent welcomes me as I enter his room), he immediately smiles, and waves his hands over his nose - trying to say "pee-you!" I change his diapers - and voila! Poop it is! If it is in the middle of the night, back to sleep he goes with no problem. As for Pee, he also cries until I enter the room, pointing to his pants- and sure enough, it is one heavy load. Granted, I hate that this is disturbing his sleep, but I am quite proud that my son doesn't like to sleep with sh**! He is so independent.
Some more Jacob Brayden updates: he is almost 17-months!!!! He is weighing at just shy of 23 lbs. and is 32 inches. Also, he is saying more and more words, but has found whining to be easier (uggh!!! I am in need of some good earplugs)- his favorite, most repetitive words- mama, dada, grandpa ("pa), grandma ("ma"), Nina (Neenee), ball, blue, bottle (baba), peas, banana (nana), what's that? Brrr (for "it's cold!")...also, he LOVES coloring- he recently drew a picture for Grandpa's Birthday and was very proud of it (I think it was my dad's favorite gift this year!), he loves to run...away from me!!!! jump, and of course, dance. His favorite song- Pink- "Don't Leave Me"- everytime it is on the radio he jams (in the car or at home or wherever) and once it is over, he cries and cries!!!! LOVES to cry for everything...I HATE it!!! I am just ignoring the behavior, but it is tough. Wow- is it tough! I want to laugh (b/c his tantrums are cute for a SECOND) and I want to run ...so it is a work in progress for both of us. Jacob has been loving his Toddler Time Class, and recently created his first (2) Art Projects- I am so proud! He also prefers to read to himself these days- and he does it out loud....so funny. He is doing great. We are having so much fun. My Little Mr. Independent. Some pics to share...
