Halloween 2010

Happy Halloween! It was a beautiful Fall weekend, and we all enjoyed ourselves. This Halloween actually had some "firsts." It was the 1st Halloween where Jacob was able to go trick or treating!!! It was also the 1st Halloween where Jacob could say "Trick or Treat!" It was so cool to see our baby be such a big boy on such a fun Holiday! He LOVED every minute of it. Saturday we kicked off the Holiday with the annual Halloween Party we always enjoy at the Gormsen Home. (Only a couple years ago, all of us adults celebrated with our own costumes, now it really is all about the kids) It was so fun (as it is every year) to see Jacob and all of his friends dress up. Jacob was Mickey Mouse this year, and DID NOT want to take his costume off at the end of the night! Other fun costumes his friends wore: a Transformer, an ice-cream sundae, Minnie Mouse (his girlfriend, Adriana), a baby cow, a fairy, Strawberry Shortcake, 2 Little Piggies, a tiger...just to name a few. We celebrated with lots of treats, good friends, and a late night with a little boy who was happy to continue partying. Once we were in the car he was asleep in 2.2! What can I say!? He kind of takes after his parents...he knows how to party! (HAHA-we used to) On Sunday (Halloween), Jacob and Daddy went trick or treating through the neighborhood, and Jake also enjoyed handing candy out to kids when they got home. He had more candy than one needs in a week, he is all "sugared out"...and enjoyed every second of it.Most of the kids~ Look at all of them!
A Fairy Princess, a Baby's 1st Halloween, a Mickey Mouse, and 2 Little Piggies
The "Bigger Kids" (Luke, 4 and Elliott, 3- Little Buddies)- Jacob stayed up late with them at the Party!
Jake's current Girlfriend, Adriana (Minnie Mouse) + Mickey = Love!
All ready to hit the hood with his "Trick or Treats"

Yo Gabba Gabba

A few weeks ago, we dedicated an entire day to our 1st born...it was all about him. We took him to see his FAVORITE show LIVE @ The Chicago Theatre- "Yo Gabba Gabba!" We drove downtown that afternoon after a nice nap, and made it just in time for the show to start. It was pretty awesome, actually. The technical details were amazing, and the characters did a great job doing their usual singing and dancing plus there were streamers and a balloon drop for the audience, so all the kids really enjoyed it. The second "DJ Lance" took the stage to open the show, Jacob's mouth was open the whole show- he was in Gabba Heaven. After the show, we bought a few souveniers and had lunch/early dinner at The Rainforest Cafe downtown. Jacob is still A HUGE GABBA fan. He would watch the same episode every single day, all day if he could. It is all he talks about. (The show is actually pretty educational, but it can drive a girl ( a mom) CRAZY!) Unfortunately, I left my camera in the car that afternoon, so I only had pics from my phone (which I have no idea how to download), so I included a graphic of the "Gabba Gang" and a picture of Jacob in his "2010 Tour" shirt. In case you are wondering who his favorite character is...it happens to be the pink one- her name is "Foofa." Oh well, I digress. It was a wonderful experience. I actually got very emotional at the beginning of the show...it was just so endearing to see my little boy have so much joy as he experienced his 1st Live Show. My Beautiful Baby is growing up so fast, and I get very teary-eyed as I watch him experience Life...he has so much excitement for everything, and I want to give him all the best life has to offer. As our Little Girl will be making her appearance any day now, I just want to spend as much quality time with Jacob Brayden as I can right now. "Yo Gabba, Yo Gabba!"

Fall Pictures: A "Moment" at the Pumpkin Patch

I say a "moment" because we did not stay very long. It was a beautiful day (however, it felt like July- it was so hot, too hot)- and it was still the morning- the place was packed and it was just plain hot and uncomfortable. I would prefer the Fall cold instead of a Summer Day at the Pumpkin Patch. My favorite season is made up of one of my favorite traditions- making our way to Goebberts, picking out pumpkins, looking at crafts, eating the Apple Cider donuts or corn on the cobb...it really is fun and I really do enjoy the little chill in the air. This year we were excited to make our way back...but Jacob was just not having it. He was hot. Tired. Crabby...and done. From the moment we got there. He refused to take any group pictures, as a matter of fact, Uncle Nick had to hold onto him so he would be in atleast ONE of the kid pictures. He was excited to sit on the GIANT rocking chair which we waited in line for, yet once we were up there - he was pissed because he couldn't climb up by himself (did I mention it is a GIANT rocking chair?)- so though we waited in line, once it was our turn, the water works were on full blast. Awesome. We couldn't wait to get home so that we could ALL go down for a nap. However, we did attempt the Pumpkin Farm another day when Daddy got home from work...it was much cooler, and we were all much happier. Some memories to share...

Happy Fall!

2-Year Old Photo Shoot

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to be photographed by Jetti Photography's #1- Jessica Campbell. She always does a beautiful job with everyone's families and children, so we were excited to spend some time with her again this Fall in honor of Jacob's 2nd Birthday and the last time we will get a formal family pic of just the 3 of us. The next time Jess comes out, we will have our Little Girl to dress up for the BIG photo shoot! For Fall 2010, here are some of our favorites...

Baby Shower!

Baby Girl Celebration~
I've been blessed with wonderful mothers- my mom and MIL (Olivia) and fantastic sisters (Loren, Karen, and Cara). On Monday, October 11th (Columbus Day)-they threw me a nice, little GIRLY Baby Shower. With a yummy lunch, cupcakes (made especially by Cara and some Gluten-Free ones from Loren), Pink Roses, babies (Jacob, Mason, and Alyssa), and topped off with some VERY PINK presents...I had a wonderful time. Thank you , I LOVE YOU! Can't wait for Emerson to meet all of her aunts, her grandmas, and model all of her outfits.

Tantrums, and Tears, and Screaming Oh My!

Whataboutit?! Baby Emerson will be here in a little over a month, and Jacob has OFFICIALLY entered the "Terrible Two's" and he refuses to leave that "Terrible Land." Mommy is SO TIRED. I have no energy, no patience, therefore; it makes the whole "discipline" thing all the more challenging. I know I deserve this. I was a tough kid. Payback is a bitch. Here's a picture of Jacob the day we received his Halloween Costume (I kind of ruined the surprise-but it is just a dress rehearsal) ...he was so excited to put it on (yeah!) but he WOULD NOT take it off!!!!! It was hard not to laugh as a little Mickey Mouse ran around the house screaming, crying, and throwing himself on the floor with some "mouse ears" to compliment. (This picture is him AFTER his tantrum...he looks exhausted after tiring himself out) I also attached another picture of his "Listen Mom, don't tell me no or you know what I am going to do...in public " face...Awesome.
