Jacob Brayden is 4-Months old today. Whataboutit?! I cannot believe 4-months has flown by. This has been the most exciting month yet. However, it has been a trying month as well...we'll start with the "trying" of times...Jacob has had this cold for weeks now, it comes and it goes...we have been to the doctor's office now once a week this month. Jake has been tugging on his ears, not sleeping through the night anymore, and fussy while eating...these are all signs of an ear infection...so I've been taking him for ear checks, and each week it has been a negative. FINALLY, last week, it was a positive: double ear infection. Amoxicilin again. After a couple days of medicine, Jacob seemed to be feeling better, and then a week later, he was sick again- runny/stuffy nose, watery eyes, eczema is back, having trouble sleeping, AND tugging on the ears again- we were back at the pediatrician's office this afternoon (on his 4-month bday)- today's results: no ear infection, but fluid is in the ear, which means by tomorrow, he could have another ear infection again...damn those ear infections....his 4-month checkup is next week, so once again, we will be back and hopefully, I won't hear those dreaded words. The doctor said during these months, babies and kids are sick on and off through April and there really is nothing you can do but try to soothe them. Huh. Sounds like its going to be a challenge.

Okay...for the most exciting times this month- I've just had so much fun. Many firsts for our Little Boy. Jacob kicked off the New Year with 4 little girlfriends and his buddy-Luke. We celebrated the New Year at a cabin with 5 other couples and their kids. It was a great time. The babies went to bed on New Year's Eve, the adults played, and the next day, we all went to the indoor water park. Next year, Jacob will be able to enjoy it a bit more...but, we had a great time. What a difference one-year makes....

My favorite by far this month: The "belly" laugh. Jacob has been laughing for weeks now, but not like this. He had his first "OMG THAT WAS SO FUNNY I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING" moment...non-stop laughing just from some silly faces I was making, but he LOVED it and couldn't get enough. THE BEST THING EVER. He was laughing so hard, I thought he was going to cry. I am looking forward to many, many more of these.

Jake has been eating rice cereal 2x a day now. So fun. He loves it. WOW- is it messy...he loves to talk and blow bubbles while eating. Favorite Toy- Baby Elmo (who also has a pacificer like Jake)- Elmo calms Jacob when he is fussy. Jacob is ALMOST sitting up- I'm sure it will be many weeks away, but he has sat up (leaning forward) without my help for a few seconds and then he starts to topple...

Jakey LOVES his daddy. The smile on his face when daddy gets home is priceless...Also, this past month, we went away for the first time without Jacob, it was a short trip, we missed him DEARLY, and he had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa.
He's rolling over!!! He still hates tummy time, so now instead of crying- he rolls over- !! Great milestone, yet- we really need more tummy time. I am doing everything I can do to get him on his tummy and off his back. We are and have been focusing on correcting his "flat" head in the back for some time now- at night we put him on his side, yet it never fails- he ends up on his back- he is just like his daddy- he is a back sleeper. The doctor said not to fret because it is only cosmetic, but I am. So, I will be posting updates on this.

Jacob has had a very exciting week too. While drinking his bottle Tuesday morning, Jacob and I sat and watched the "Inaugeration Day" news and I explained to him that I will always remind him where he was and what he was doing that very historical moment- the day that Barack Obama- first African American-to become president...wow! what an exciting time to be a kid- their history books are going to be so much different then ours.

I love you, buddy. Thank you for being my perfect baby. Happy 4-Months, Jake!

Jill, he is absolutely gorgeous! I'd like to note that no matter how many times our group has gotten together over the last few months either you guys or us have been absent. I feel like I'll never see him again. Also, his clothes are adorable.
He's growing so fast. I love him in his little sports car. What a little stud! Isn't laughing the best thing ever?
