Swimming Lessons Proved Successful

In July, Jacob started his 1st Swimming Lessons at the Barrington Park District. The Lessons were 4x days a week for an hour each time for 2 weeks. It was really difficult for me because the lessons started at 9am...and well, I am not a morning person, so getting us both up, dressed, fed, and out the door by 8:45...was really a challenge...but we did it...Thank Goodness the lessons were only 2 weeks! Jacob was in a Baby Group with a pretty wide window of babies/kids - 6months-36 months...so there were all kinds of kids in the class...from non crawlers/walkers to potty trained little ones. The class was for parents/kids- many of the parents were actually grandparents who brought their little ones (which I thought was so sweet)- but, it didn't really give me an opportunity to meet many moms my age...but, Oh, well...this is about the kids...right? The class taught the kids to be familiar with water, how to kick, move their arms, blow bubbles, get their heads wet, jump in, etc....I really think this class did "the boy" some good. He now LOVES bathtime again (probably b/c we do it in mommy and daddy's tub now, so it seems more like a swimming pool to him), he enjoys his baby pool at our house, LOVES swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's house (actually asks to go swimming), and looks forward to the zero depth pool at the park district. (FYI-earlier this Summer, he wanted NOTHING to do with swimming pools, so this is great) One evening, we waited for Rocky to get off work, we all went to McDonalds for dinner, brought it to the pool, and had a family swim evening....Rocky was very impressed with our "little swimmer."
