Rainforest Hike in Puerto Rico

..Well, better late than never (on this post)....Rocky talked me into doing a 6-hour hike through a rainforest in Puerto Rico called El Yunque. A little background: Rocky and his friends are "hikers" now- they enjoy their annual "Man Trip" to different ends of the country for days at time- hiking and camping, and being "men"- things that I have NO interest in (but, I do think that it is very cool that they all do this)...well, his love for hiking was taken to Puerto Rico and into the depths of the rain forests....with me. K- first of all, I am not a hiker. I do not enjoy LONG HOURS in a land that is consistently raining, full of mosquitos, and non stop walking until we get to the end...which just gets us to our car. Now, I have full respect for nature. I DO love the outdoors (just as long as I can walk back inside whenever I want)- a couple hours here and there, not a big deal- great exercise by the way...but 6-hours in the pouring rain with a man that thinks he is "MaGyver"- not so much. We stocked up, hiking boots (I borrowed my mom's- hated them, couldn't wear them, I did try them on though- thanks mom- ended up wearing my gym shoes), water, a back pack full of mosquito spray, an emergency pack, and of course, food (something I needed every 2 hours anyway)...we even woke up early in paradise to do this damn hike. So off we went. At first, it was so cool. We saw leaves bigger than some plants here. Absolutely breathtaking...but the higher you go, the rain begins, and never ends (and you kind of feel like you are in the movie "Twilight" (w/o Edward, of course) because it is so foggy b/c you are up literally in the clouds) The plants and trees are just amazing; however. We took lots of pictures of just beauty that looks truly fake...it is just so green (thanks again to the rain)....the trees are all so unique and so tall. The beauty was fantastic...but 3 hours, 4 hours, 5 hours, 6 HOURS LATER...I was done and soaked. Some pictures to share. FYI- I will never be joining the "Man Trip."

So proud of you Jill! How do you still manage to look cute in the soaking rain? Love the reference to Twilight.
