This is the story of the NEW Rojas Family. A tribute to the experiences and challenges of our lives as parents to the 2 Loves of our Lives, Jacob Brayden and Emerson Marie. I am a 30-something new mother living in the Chicago Suburbs, wife of 6-years to my college sweetheart, and after 10-years in the media business, I am now a Stay at Home Mom. This is my life.

Baby #2 is a Girl!
I cannot even believe what I just wrote. What?! We are having a girl?! We couldn't even believe our ears...this all feels like a dream...a wonderful dream. I am just about 20-weeks pregnant, and today was our BIG ULTRASOUND...to look at the baby, measure everything, make sure everything was developing correctly, and...the million dollar answer: girl or boy. I was SO anxious all day. I really could not concentrate on anything. I kept getting a little emotional as well. I tend to it seems; however, with this BIG ULTRASOUND ( I did with Jacob too)- I think because it is so nerve-racking, you want to make sure everything is okay (at the end of the day, all anyone wants is a healthy baby)...this is the moment to check for that. And, I will be honest, I really was mourning the farewell of the Baby Girl that I probably was never going to have. I know, I know it sounds so dramatic. But, I truly believed I was having a boy (which by the way, would have made us very happy as well). All of my symptoms have been very similar to pregnancy #1 with Jake, I actually have been gaining slower than my first pregnancy, the chinese calendar said I was having a boy, and I just really felt the odds were all boy. I was mourning (all day) the idea of never going to American Girl Place with my daughter, never buying hair bows, dresses, panties, etc, never painting a room pink, never having tea parties, never planning a wedding one day, and when she is all grown up- I mourned the idea of never having a daughter as a "friend." Well, somehow, someway... God felt we were ready. I am having a Little Girl. I couldn't be happier to have this opportunity to raise a girl. Jacob will be the best Big Brother. And, Rocky...oh, wow...he is already smitten. He is on cloud 9. I am pretty sure I will fall in love all over again when I see him with his "Little Princess." We are so excited!
